Introducing Lean Six Sigma to our services

Here at Quality Excellence, we help clients navigate the complexities of regulatory compliance and ISO certification. Whatever the project, we encourage clients to see compliance as more than just a tick-box exercise and focus on the broader business benefits it can deliver – improving systems, streamlining processes and enhancing ways of working.

We always stress that it’s not only about your business today, but also about how you’re evolving, adapting, and improving to meet tomorrow’s challenges. To support this, we’re delighted to introduce Lean Six Sigma training, coaching and consulting as a new service for Quality Excellence in 2026.

What is Lean Six Sigma?

Lean Six Sigma provides a structured way to improve efficiency, quality, and customer satisfaction. In this way, it’s a natural complement to our ISO and compliance consulting services. While regulatory compliance work helps you build strong foundations through improved systems and processes, Lean Six Sigma helps you achieve sustainable growth.

Lean is more than just a set of tools or a framework. It’s about a whole new way of thinking, enabling businesses to:

  • improve process efficiency, reliability and consistency
  • enhance quality and reduce defects
  • shorten lead/waiting times for customers
  • eliminate waste and overproduction
  • strengthen compliance, with evidence of continual improvement.

Lean thinking can help you identify the root causes of problems and eliminate them. Many organisations can cut defects or customer waiting times by 80% or more using Lean methods, achieving transformational improvements.

A new partnership

We’ve partnered with The Lean Six Sigma Company (TLSSC) to deliver accredited training and coaching. TLSSC is among the UK’s leading Lean Six Sigma training providers, supporting clients in more than 40 countries.

By partnering with a premium provider in this sector, we can ensure you receive the highest-calibre training.

What is Lean methodology?

Lean methodology originated in post-World War II Japan. Manufacturers needed efficient, cost-effective systems due to limited financial investment, resources and space.

Toyota developed a lean manufacturing model – called the Toyota Production System (TPS) – to address this challenge. TPS drew on the work of US industry pioneers such as W. Edwards Deming, Henry Ford and Frederick W. Taylor.

Lean methodology means making things easier, better, faster, and cheaper – a phrase famously coined by Shigeo Shingo, a world-leading authority on TPS.

The Six Sigma approach

Six Sigma, developed at Motorola in the 1980s, improves performance by reducing variation and using the DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve, Control) project methodology. It draws on statistics to identify sources of variation and defects.

In recent years, Lean and Six Sigma have come together to form a powerful business improvement approach.

Which organisations benefit from Lean Six Sigma?

Although Lean Six Sigma has its roots in manufacturing, this methodology can be applied in all kinds of organisations.

So, what results can you expect?

Recently, our trainers have:

  • helped one company reduce complaint resolution time by 91%. This was achieved by removing queue bottlenecks.
  • boosted electronic transactions by 300% by introducing a new data validation process. This has cut processing times, errors and paper waste.
  • reduced onboarding days for new recruits by 41%, lowering the risk of dropouts.

These examples show the transformational impact of Lean Six Sigma.

What we offer

At Quality Excellence, Lean Six Sigma training is delivered by a team of accredited experts with experience across diverse sectors. Our trainers have particular expertise in highly regulated environments, healthcare and service-based organisations. They can recommend the best training for your needs and budget, from introductory courses and workshops to advanced certification.

We can design a bespoke programme for your organisation. Alternatively, you can join an open course to connect with business professionals from different sectors and see how they solve similar challenges to yours.

Whichever option you choose, you’ll learn how to apply Lean training to solve real business problems and achieve measurable results.

Structured Lean Six Sigma training and short courses

The structured Lean Six Sigma training programme is based around coloured belts, from White to Master Black Belt. You can complete one training belt or progress through the different levels, applying what you learn to practical projects. You’ll receive coaching throughout the programme.

Alongside our structured training, we also offer short courses and workshops on specialist topics.

Training can be delivered at your workplace or online.

Lean Six Sigma coaching and consulting

Coaching is part of our structured training programme. If you want to explore a topic or project further, we can provide bespoke coaching on specific subjects. We also offer Lean Six Sigma consulting to help you tackle a particular business challenge.

Bringing compliance and continuous improvement together

By introducing Lean Six Sigma training, coaching and consulting to our services, we help you with both compliance and continuous improvement. Working with a single partner ensures a joined-up approach and better results.
